Day 8

Thank you to Bart Holleman for sponsoring this day.

„ZUSAMMEN SIND WIR HUNDERT“- Tine‘s Aunt Hanne

Sigurd Raschèr was a soloist beyond every measure, and yet he dreamed of a saxophone orchestra that would play on a professional level.

In the mid-seventies Sigurd Raschèr combined the forces of the RSQ with his most talented students and masterclass-goers to create just that.

A few of the gorgeous interpretations featured Raschèr himself offering a sturdy musical foundation with the aid the mighty contrabass saxophone; a foundation upon which a melody would be provided by his daughter Carina on the soprano saxophone.

This orchestra brimmed with spirit in spades and was abolutely example-setting in its artistic output.

The instrument

Buescher Soprano (1923 USA)

A straight soprano in C. For a saxophone like this, it is especially vital that you find the original mouthpiece (with correct dimensions), to find the saxophone’s tone and intonation.
