Day 15

Thank you to Bettina Broos-van Zoelen for sponsoring this day.

1=1+1+1+1 Why do you play in the RSQ?
Iria Garrido Meira, baritone saxophone

“To be part of a quartet with such a history, where some of the greatest players of our instrument played, together with all the innovation and musical collaborations that would have seemed impossible before the RSQ‘s existence (Xenakis, Berio, Glass), is a true honour.

Working with such a background and being a part of this quartet’s existence, with the job of keeping it alive with even more pieces written for us, is an immense pleasure.

The RSQ brought to the saxophone world many milestones in the quartet repertoire as we know it today.

I only hope for our work to keep inspiring composers and saxophone students as much as the RSQ has been doing until now.“
