Day 1

Thank you to Uwe Knötsch and his son Tim for sponsoring this day.

Once Upon a Time

Our story begins with the music of the master composer Johann Sebastian Bach.

The instrument from Andreas‘s collection that is featured today is from the year 1850, one hundread years after Bach closed his eyes and ten years after the saxophone‘s invention.

Sigurd Raschèr cultivated the idea of playing Bach together with the over 200 works written specifically for him, and he infused this page of his artistic recipe book with the musical DNA of his own chamber music ensemble when he founded the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet later on in his life, in 1969.
